Project inspection
After a thorough inspection by our qualified team, several critical deficiencies were identified in the cabin’s original construction. The assessment revealed structural weaknesses and inadequate sealing that required immediate attention to prevent long-term damage.
- Roof structure rebuild — original construction had insufficient load-bearing capacity for snow load.
- Foundation stabilization — reinforcement in zones affected by settlement and ground movement.
- Façade restoration — complete sanding, repainting, and resealing for weather resistance.
- Moisture and air sealing upgrades — correction of insulation and barrier layers to improve energy efficiency.
- Exterior maintenance — ensuring durability and a uniform finish across all visible surfaces.
Project renovation works
- Roof structure rebuild – The entire roof was dismantled and reconstructed with correct dimensions and support, ensuring long-term safety under Geilo’s heavy snow conditions.
- Façade renovation – All exterior cladding was sanded, resealed, and repainted with weather-resistant coatings, protecting the cabin from moisture and improving insulation.
- Foundation stabilization – Structural reinforcements were added in areas affected by settlement, preventing further sinking and securing the building’s stability.
- Moisture & insulation upgrades – Air and thermal sealing layers were corrected, eliminating cold bridges and enhancing year-round energy efficiency.
Results
Following the renovation, the cabin now meets modern construction and safety standards, with reinforced structural capacity and significantly improved energy performance. The roof and foundation were stabilized to withstand Geilo’s demanding mountain climate, while the façade received full protection against weather and moisture. These upgrades not only restored the cabin’s integrity but also enhanced its comfort, durability, and long-term value.
